Qualifier for the 2020 Alberta Closed
Format: 5-round Swiss, CFC & FIDE rated
Time control: Game in 90 minutes with a 30-second increment
Round times: Saturday – 10 am, ~2 pm, ~6 pm; Sunday – 10 am, ~2 pm or ASAP. A 30-minute break between games is always guaranteed. Default late time is 60 minutes.
Entry fee: $60 regular. $40 for age 18 and under or 65 and over, female players or 1st time CFC players. $10 late fee if registering on site. GM/IM/FM title holders receive free entry. CFC membership is required and may be purchased on-site. Annual membership is $43 for adults, $28 for juniors. CFC tournament membership is $21 for adults, $11 for juniors.
Registration process: Fill out the Registration Form below. Payment will be made on-site by cash.On-site Registration: 9:15-9:45 am on Saturday, February 19.
Prizes: The winner (if an Albertan) qualifies for the 2022 Alberta Closed. All entry fees go to the prize fund except for the ACA dues of $10 per paid participant.
Byes: A maximum of two ½-point byes available in rounds 1-4 if requested before the start of round 1.
Qualification for Alberta Closed: Based on a regular ACA tie-breaking system in case of a tie for the first place.

Masks will be required by ALL participants. The number of entrants will be limited to 42 to safely distance players. After 42 is reached, there will be a waiting list. Proof of vaccination no longer required.

By entering this tournament, players agree that the ECC, ACA and Northern AB Open organizers cannot guarantee that they will not as a result become infected with COVID-19. Entrants further certify that during the 14-day period before the tournament, they have not experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or had close or direct contact with anyone who is either confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19.
Within two weeks of the tournament, if you experience any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, please do NOT attend. These symptoms include, but are not limited to, fever, respiratory distress, and shortness of breath. If within two weeks of the tournament, you have any close or direct contact with anyone who is either confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19, please do NOT attend. This includes close or direct contact with anyone who is experiencing or displaying any symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
