Payment will be made on site by cash. CFC rated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Byes:&nbsp;<\/strong>Up to two 1\/2-point byes are allowed in rounds 1-3 if requested before the start of the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Approximate Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On-Site Registration: 10:15 a.m. \u2013 10:45 a.m.<br>Rounds 1 and 2: 11:00 a.m. \u2013 12:30 p.m.<br>Lunch break: 12:30 p.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m. <br>Rounds 3 and 4: 1:00 p.m. \u2013 2:30 p.m.<br>Tie-breaks (if necessary) and awards: immediately after the completion of the last round<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prizes<\/strong><br>Medals will be given to top finishers in each section. Top two places plus top girl in each section receive free entry to the 2026 Alberta Youth Championship, held April 25-26 in Edmonton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tie-Break Procedures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case two or more players are tied for first place, the following tie-break procedure will apply:<br>1) Head to head result.&nbsp;This will only apply if all the players in a tied group played each other.<br>2) Tie-break match. If two players are tied, they will play a two-game match with the time control of game in 10 minutes + 5 seconds per move.<br>If more than two players are tied, they will play a round-robin tournament with the same time controls.<br>If the tie is still not broken, the procedure will be repeated; however, the time control will be game in 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tie-breaks for all other places will be determined by the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Swiss system pairing system is used:<br>a) Buchholz (total scores of opponents)<br>b) Sonnenborn-Berger (total scores of opponents beaten plus half the scores of opponents drawn)<br>c) Most wins.<br>d) Most games with the black pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the tournament is played in a Round-Robin format:<br>a) Sonnenborn-Berger (total scores of opponents beaten plus half the scores of opponents drawn).<br>b) Koya System (Only counting the scores of opponents who scored 50% or more).<br>c) Most wins.<br>d) Most games with the black pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Registration<\/strong><br>Fill out the registration form below. Pre-registered players must show up by 10:45 a.m. or they won\u2019t be paired.<br><strong><em>Maximum capacity is 52 total participants.
