Payment will be made on site by cash. Pre-registered players must show up by 10:45 am on January 28 or they won&#8217;t be paired.<br><br><strong>Format:\u00a0<\/strong>The exact format of each section will depend on the number of participants but players should expect to play 4 games.<br><br><strong>Time control:<\/strong>\u00a0Game in 25 minutes with a 5-second increment.<br><br><strong>Entry fee:<\/strong>\u00a0$15 if pre-registered online by 10 PM, Monday, January 22, $20 afterwards and on site.<br><br><strong>Byes:<\/strong>\u00a0Up to two 1\/2-point byes are allowed in rounds 1-3 if requested before the start of the tournament.<br><br><strong>Approximate Schedule on January 28<\/strong><br>On-Site Registration:\u00a010:15 am &#8211; 10:45 am<br>Rounds 1 and 2:\u00a011:00 am &#8211; 12:30 pm\u00a0<br>Lunch break:\u00a012:30 pm &#8211; 1:00 pm (pizza will be provided)<br>Rounds 3 and 4:\u00a01:00 pm &#8211; 2:30 pm<br>Tie-breaks (if necessary) and awards:\u00a0immediately after the completion of the last round<br><br><strong>Prizes in each section:<\/strong><br><strong><em>1st place:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Free entry to the 2018 Alberta Youth Chess Championship (held on Feb 24-25 in Calgary) + $100 of professional chess coaching.<br><strong><em>2nd place<\/em><\/strong>: Free entry to the 2018 Alberta Youth Championship<br><strong><em>Top Girl<\/em><\/strong>&#8211; Medal.Medals for top finishers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tie-Break Procedures<\/strong><br><strong>In case two or more players are tied for\u00a0first place, the following tie-break procedure will apply:<\/strong><br>1) Head to head result.\u00a0 This will only apply if all the players in a tied group played each other.<br>2) Tie-break match. If two players are tied, they will play a two-game match with the time control of Game\/10minutes + 5 seconds per move.If more than two players are tied, they will play a round-robin tournament with the same time controls.
