Eligibility: Anyone born after January 1, 2000
Sections: Open, Under 1300
Format of the Open section: 5-round Swiss, CFC rated
Time control: Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move
Format of the other sections: 7-round Swiss, CFC rated
Time control: Game in 45 minutes + 30 seconds/move
Entry fee: $30 if pre-registered online by noon, Friday, September 13. $35 otherwise. ACA junior membership required ($1/year). CFC members do not need to pay additional ACA membership fee. CFC membership is not required.
How to register:
Fill out the registration form below. Payment will be made on site by either cash or cheque made out to “Alberta Chess Association.”
Pre-registered players must come by 9:45 am or confirm that they are coming by calling 780-424-0283 on the morning of round 1, or they will not be paired.
Approximate Schedule of the Open section
Saturday:
On-site registration: 9:00 am – 9:45 am
Opening ceremony: 9:55 am
Rounds 1-3: 10 am, 2 pm, 6 pm
Sunday:
Rounds 4 and 5: 10 am, 2 pm
Approximate Schedule of the U1300 section
Saturday:
On-site registration: 9:00 am – 9:45 am
Opening ceremony: 9:55 am
Rounds 1-4: 10 am, 11:30 am, 3 pm, 5 pm
Sunday:
Rounds 5-7: 10 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm
Prizes in the Open section:
1st place: Guaranteed spot at AB Junior Championship + Trophy
2nd place: Free entry to AB Junior Open Tournament + Trophy
3rd place: Trophy
Prizes in the U1300 section:
1st place: Free entry to AB Junior Championship corresponding section + Trophy
2nd and 3rd place: trophies.
All other participants will receive ribbons.
