The second edition of the Calgary International Chess Classic will be a 9 round CFC & FIDE rated event. FIDE IM norms will be up for grabs. World class chess players will compete for cash and IM norms. IM John Donaldson will be returning to defend his title. Live games will be available online via DGT technology.

Alberta will field a number of IM hopefuls. FM's Eric Hansen, Greg Huber, and Dale Haessel will battle with other IM hunters from across Canada and beyond for that ellusive norm.

Players from as many as five countries will be in attendance. GM Anton Kovalyov will be here, as well as an interesting selection of titled players from around the world!

The Calgary Chess Club will once again play host. For five days you can witness the event live, and get comprehensive media coverage in the comfort of your home.  Alberta champion Eric Hansen will  provide some media coverage for what promises to be a Canadian classic. Visitors are also welcome at the site. Get a feel for what international chess is all about!
