The third edition of the Calgary International Chess Classic will be a 9 round CFC & FIDE rated event. GM and IM norms will be possible. World class chess players will compete for cash and norms. IM Edward Porper will be returning to defend his share of the title.

Philippine GM Eugenio Torre will be playing this year. Torre is a national hero in his country. Alberta will field a number of IM hopefuls.

Players from at least five countries will be in attendance.

The Calgary Chess Club will once again play host. For five days you can witness the event live at the site or  get comprehensive media coverage in the comfort of your home via the internet. Visitors are welcome. Get a feel for what international chess is all about! Spectators are welcome at $2 per day.

Note to spectators: Cell phones must be turned off before entering the playing hall. Noise making of any kind is also forbidden in the main playing hall. Any person(s) who disturb the players will be ejected from the playing hall. Photography is permitted only in the first 10 minutes of each round. Absolutely no pictures will be allowed after 10 minutes of each round with the exception of those taken by or with the approval of the chief organizer.
